The story starts with the sources of Kara Zor-El, who is sent by her folks Alura and Zor-El from Krypton to Earth to watch over her newborn child cousin, Kal-El. Krypton detonates seconds after the fact, thumping the case off base and sending it into the Phantom Zone. She stayed solidified in time in the Zone for a long time before it got away and slammed on Earth.
